Our History
The Catholic Medical Association of Central Ohio originally chartered in 2009 as the John Paull II Guild. Our goal is to help Catholic medical professionals with education, faith materials, and fellowship. Formation of the guild is in response to a request from Bishop Frederick Campbell. The Bishop desired to have a group of physicians loyal to the teachings of the church who could provide information and advice on medical and ethical issues challenging the Church today.
From our humble beginning of 6 members, we now have over 15 members, 1 National Officer, and a Medical Student Section at The Ohio State University College of Medicine. Our activities include an annual “White Mass” to celebrate the feast of St. Luke in October. To recognize our graduating medical students, we hold an annual “Hippocratic Dinner.” The spring is time for our annual retreat for members and spouses. Throughout the year we hold other meetings and activities to support and enrich our members and strengthen fellowship.
